How to Claim Replacement Jeans Under Levi’s 2-Year Warranty

  • Levi’s covers manufacturing or material defects for two years.
  • You’ll need to upload photos of the defect, but you don’t need a receipt.
  • Choose your replacement carefully — the voucher is one-time use, so pick the right style and size.

If your favorite pair of Levi’s jeans just didn’t live up to their hype (and it’s not just normal wear), you may have a right to a replacement — yes, really.

We all expect our jeans to last, so when a zipper breaks or seams unravel, it’s frustrating to see that money you spent on them go down the drain.

Thankfully, Levi’s offers a two-year warranty on eligible purchases in the U.S., so you can be confident that you’re getting the quality you paid for.

What the Levi’s 2-Year Warranty Covers

Levi’s stands behind the quality of their products and wants you to love every purchase. Their two-year warranty covers manufacturing and material defects for eligible items purchased in the U.S. or its territories.

Common issues covered include:

  • Stitching or seam defects
  • Faulty zippers, buttons, or snaps
  • Misaligned pockets
  • Hardware malfunctions

These are all examples of problems that fall under “defective workmanship or materials.”

What the Levi’s warranty doesn’t cover

The warranty doesn’t apply to normal wear-and-tear issues like:

  • Fading or color loss
  • Fraying, holes, or thinning fabric from regular use
  • Stretching or shrinking from washing and wearing
  • Belt-loop tearing from strain
  • Dye transfer from dark denim to lighter fabrics

This distinction matters because it helps you know if your claim will likely be approved.

A broken button six months in? Covered. Faded knees after two years of heavy wear? That’s just time doing its thing.

How to Submit a Claim (Step-by-Step)

1. Gather the required info and photos

Before you start your claim, collect:

  • Clear photos of the defect (close-up and full-view)
  • Photo of the size tag
  • Photo of the manufacturing country/brand label

You don’t need proof of purchase (receipt, order confirmation, or approximate date and retailer), but if you do have it, grab that too — it could be helpful.

Use good lighting and make sure the defect is visible. Take a few different photos to show the defect from different angles. Make sure the numbers on the labels are visible.

Blurry or incomplete photos are the number-one reason warranty claims get delayed or denied!

2. Fill out the online form

Head to Levi’s online Warranty Return Form. There, you’ll answer a few questions, upload your photos, and briefly describe the issue.

Once submitted, Levi’s typically reviews claims within 3–4 business days

You’ll receive an email letting you know if your claim was approved or if they need more details.

3. Collect your voucher

If your claim is approved, you’ll receive a voucher to use on Levi.com for a replacement item.

Keep these details in mind:

  • You can claim one product per submission.
  • The voucher is one-time use only.
  • If your replacement item costs less than the voucher amount, you can’t claim the cash difference.
  • You may need to enter a credit card at checkout, but it won’t be charged unless your total exceeds the voucher.
  • You can make up to six claims every six months. Any more than that won't be accepted.

Tips for Ordering Your Replacement Jeans

Since your voucher is single-use, take your time before ordering.

Check your fit and wash preferences, read sizing charts carefully, and consider whether to replace your exact pair or try something new.

When your new jeans arrive:

  • Inspect them right away for any defects.
  • Keep the voucher email and claim confirmation.
  • Follow care instructions (cold wash, inside out, air dry) to help prevent wear and fading over time.

FAQs

Does the Levi's warranty work without a receipt?

Levi’s doesn’t require you to upload any proof of purchase for the warranty — only photos of the issue, the size tag, and the country/brand label.

What counts as a defect vs. normal wear?

A defect is something that happens because of a manufacturing or material issue — like a zipper breaking after a few wears or seams unraveling early. Normal wear is the natural result of use, such as fading, fraying, or stretching over time.

If you’re unsure which category your issue falls into, take clear photos and submit a claim. Levi’s reviews each case individually, so it’s always worth asking.

How often can I claim the Levi's warranty?

Levi’s allows up to six warranty claims every six months. Each claim covers one product only, so if you have multiple items to claim, prioritize your highest-value items first.

TL;DR: Replace Your Faulty Levi’s Jeans

If you notice a defect in your Levi’s jeans, don’t ignore it — even if you bought them two years ago! Take photos, file a claim, and collect the money you’re owed.

Protecting your purchases is part of protecting your money. When you use policies like this, you’re not just getting new jeans — you’re practicing smart, empowered financial behavior.

Hopefully, your next pair of Levi’s will fit even better!

I'm a graduate of Georgetown Law, where I founded the Georgetown Law Entrepreneurship Club, and the University of Notre Dame. I then spent years as a corporate lawyer representing Fortune 500 companies, but I quit because I realized I wanted to have an impact; I wanted to help real people and teach them that you can create a financial future for yourself.
