Alaska Airlines has become one of the premier mid-tier airlines to travel with, thanks to a flexible rewards program with valuable redemption rates for flights around the world. And when the airline acquired Hawaiian Airlines in 2024, those opportunities for redemptions got even bigger.
In August 2025, the two airlines announced a joint loyalty program, called Atmos™ Rewards (formerly known as the separate Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan and HawaiianMiles).
The new program maintains Alaska’s previous partnership with oneworld Alliance, plus other airlines outside of the alliance (and is adding a few!). All in all, Atmos offers over 30 partner airlines.
How Atmos Rewards Works
You can earn Atmos points by flying with Alaska Airlines or Hawaiian Airlines, or by spending on an Atmos-branded credit card.
You can also earn additional points by using the Atmos Rewards shopping portal and dining program, or by making purchases with Atmos partner brands (including retail, hotel, and car rental companies).
Points can be used to book flights directly on Alaska or Hawaiian or through partner airlines, or for booking vacation packages and cruises.
Atmos also offers elite status for frequent fliers. There are four levels: Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Titanium. Each status tier unlocks additional perks and bonuses.

How To Earn Atmos Rewards Points
There are several ways to earn Atmos points — not just from flying, but also through brand partners and by spending on a co-branded Atmos credit card.
Flying Alaska Airlines or Hawaiian Airlines (and partners)
You can earn Atmos points by flying on Alaska Airlines or Hawaiian Airlines directly or on a partner airline.
You will earn more points the higher your seat class. For example, you’ll earn one Atmos point for every physical mile flown on a standard Alaska Airlines ticket. But if you book a “Saver” ticket (X fare class), you’ll only earn 30% of the physical miles flown.
If you purchase a first-class ticket (not an upgrade), you’ll earn an additional 50% (or more) bonus points on top of standard points earned.

2026 updates
Starting in spring 2026, Atmos will give you three options for earning points and status:
- Distance traveled: Earnings are based on how far you fly — one point per mile.
- Price paid: Earnings are based on how much you paid for a flight — five points for every $1 spent (includes airfare and upgrades purchased in premium cabins).
- Segments flown: Earn a flat 500 points for each flight segment flown.
While you can change your pick, you can only do it once per year, so do the math on what you think will work best for you in the coming 12 months.
Booking with Alaska Vacations or Alaska Cruises
If you prefer to book a total trip package, rather than just a flight on its own, you can earn one point for every $1 spent with Alaska Vacations or Alaska Cruises.
Using an Atmos Rewards credit card
Another popular (and possibly faster) way to earn Atmos points is to use one of the Atmos co-branded credit cards.
There are five cards to choose from:

The biggest highlight of the new premium Atmos™ Rewards Summit Visa Infinite® card is that it comes with an annual global companion certificate (worth up to 25,000 points) to bring someone with you on your flight. And the certificate can be used on any of Atmos’s partner airlines — not just Alaska or Hawaiian.
You’ll also get another companion certificate worth up to 100,000 points if you spend at least $60,000 in a year.
The other two Atmos credit cards also offer a companion fare for $99 (plus taxes and fees) for Alaska or Hawaiian flights within North America (including Hawaii).

Using the Atmos Rewards shopping portal
If you want to earn additional Atmos points, you can use their online shopping portal at atmosshopping.com. Before making any online purchase, search through the portal to see if your store earns bonus points.
You can also add a Google Chrome extension so that you can be notified automatically when you shop through the Chrome browser. The extension will pop up on the screen and let you know if there are bonus points available.
Using the Atmos Rewards dining program
Atmos also offers a dining program that allows you to link a credit card (it doesn’t have to be an Atmos-branded card), find a supported restaurant, and earn extra points when you pay with that linked card.
Spending with Atmos Rewards partners
You can earn additional points by shopping with Atmos brand partners like 1-800-Flowers, Harry & David, and Laithwaites. And you can earn Atmos points with numerous car rental companies, including Avis, Budget, and Hertz, as well as on Lyft rides.
Atmos also has several hotel partners, where you can earn Atmos points from your bookings, including Best Western, Marriott Bonvoy, Choice, and IHG.
Finally, Atmos is partnered with Bilt Rewards, which earns you points for paying your rent. Those points can be transferred to Atmos at a 1:1 value.
How To Redeem Atmos Rewards Points
Redeeming Atmos Rewards points is pretty straightforward, and the best deals are usually found with flights.
Here are a few ways to redeem — and whether they’re worth it or not:
Redeem Atmos points for flights
The best way to redeem your Atmos points (by far) is for flights. You can book flights directly through Alaska or Hawaiian Airlines starting at 4,500 points.
Your best value will usually be international flights through partner airlines. For example, I found one-way flights in October from New York City to Paris on the Alaska Airlines website for as little as 22,500 points (one-way).
Some routes even offer lie-flat business class seats for as little as 45,000 points (one-way).
Plus, Alaska Airlines usually charges much lower fees than other international airlines for overseas flights.

Redeem Atmos points for car rentals
Atmos points can also be redeemed for car rentals. You can use the Alaska Airlines car rental portal to search for cars offered by Avis or Budget, and choose to earn points when paying cash or redeem your points to book the car.
Unfortunately, the redemption rate is usually far below 1 cent per point (cpp) and not a very good use of your points.
Redeem Atmos points for vacation packages
You can also use your Atmos points to book hotel stays through the “Alaska Vacations” portal.
You can search for available hotels for the location you wish to book in, and choose to earn bonus points when paying cash, or redeem points to book.
But just like the car rental rate, booking hotel stays with Atmos points offers a terrible redemption value.

Give, transfer, or donate Atmos points
If you don’t need to use your points for your own travels, you can transfer them to someone else’s account ($10 for 1,000 points) or convert them into a gift for someone.
You can also donate your points to one of Atmos’s charity partners, including the Make-A-Wish®, Fisher House Foundation™, The Nature Conservancy®, and disaster relief organizations.
How to Get Atmos Elite Status
Atmos elite status allows you to earn bonus points, check bags for free, and get complimentary seat upgrades and priority service. You’ll earn more perks as you climb up the elite tiers.
There are also milestones within each of the status tiers that add extra perks to your status, such as bonus points, lounge access, and upgrade certificates.
You can earn status points through physical miles flown with Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, or through a partner airline (including on award travel). You can also earn status points by spending on Atmos or Hawaiian Airlines credit cards.
Starting in 2026, you’ll be able to choose how you earn points (including status points) — by distance traveled, price paid, or segments flown.

Do Atmos Rewards points expire?
No, Atmos points do not expire as long as your Atmos Rewards account remains open and active.
I’ve had miles sit in my Alaska Airlines Mileage account for years (untouched) and have never lost a single mile — and that policy isn’t changing under the new Atmos brand.
How many Atmos Rewards points do you earn per dollar spent?
For most purchases, you’ll earn one Atmos point for every dollar spent with Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, or one of their airline partners.
However, you can earn bonus points by booking premium seats or with some brand partners — for example, 2 points per $1 spent with Lyft.
The Atmos credit cards earn 3 points per $1 spent on Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines.
Do you get a free bag with Atmos Rewards?
While you don’t get a free checked bag just for joining Atmos Rewards, you can earn a free checked bag after getting 20,000 status points and obtaining Silver status.
TL;DR: Is Atmos Rewards Worth It?
The Atmos Rewards program is a nice upgrade from the former Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan and HawaiianMiles (too often, loyalty programs end up with downgrades rather than improvements).
You can snag some genuinely great deals, and the fact that you'll be able to choose how you earn points starting in 2026 (based on distance, price, or flight segments) is a unique offering for travelers. The new Atmos credit cards can help you rack up points faster, too.
If you're already flying Alaska or Hawaiian, or you can make good use of their massive network of partner airlines (especially for international trips), then Atmos Rewards is definitely worth joining.
